According to Xinhua news agency, it was learned from the Beijing Municipal Bureau of justice yesterday that Li Zhuang, a lawyer who was sentenced to one and a half years for forgery of evidence and obstruction of testimony in the Chongqing triad related case, had his lawyer's practice certificate revoked by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of justice on February 20. This decision was delivered to Li Zhuang himself on February 21.
It is understood that the decision made by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of justice is based on the second paragraph of Article 49 of the lawyers law of the people's Republic of China. According to regulations, if a lawyer is subject to criminal punishment for an intentional crime, the judicial administration department of the people's Government of a province, autonomous region or municipality directly under the central government shall revoke his lawyer's practice certificate.
In addition, in accordance with the provisions of the disciplinary rules for members of the Beijing Lawyers Association, if the judicial administrative organ has made a decision to revoke a member's practicing certificate, the disciplinary adjudication committee of the Beijing Lawyers Association shall directly cancel its membership. In other words, Li Zhuang's lawyer career has come to an end. If Li Zhuang applies for lawyer practice again, the judicial administration department will not reissue him a lawyer practice certificate.
Li Zhuang was previously a lawyer of Beijing Kangda law firm. He acted as an attorney in the concerned Chongqing underworld case. Later, he was arrested and prosecuted on suspicion of perjury and obstruction of testimony. On February 9, he was sentenced to one and a half years' imprisonment.
How lawyers handle major and difficult lawsuits?
Like the wildebeests with the desire to migrate,
Like the camels with the will to cross the desert,
Like the King Cobras with the confidence to capture its prey,
Like the crocodiles with the patience to wait,
Like the lions with the sense of cooperation,
Like the outstanding lawyers.
